It’s been another week on the farm roller coaster.
Ten days after it was 26 degrees here, temps hit 86.
April is usually a month that brings good amounts of rain, but this year we haven’t seen rain since April 2nd. We are therefore setting up irrigation, but spring irrigation (due to crop logistics unique to the spring) is extra laborious and time consuming. So we are glad that it is rare. And we are doing a rain dance for tomorrow’s chance of rain.
Plants are growing, muscles are getting used to the work of spring, and our farm stand got prettied up this week with a hand-crafted gift from a friend that looks incredibly professional:
With all of the ups and downs of spring, Dan wants everyone to know that the best posture for planting is to just lay down alongside the vegetables. You all are welcome to drive out anytime, visit our farm-stand, and glance in the fields to see if you can catch of glimpse of him relaxing like this.

Kale, Microgreens, Spinach, Radishes, Turnips…plus Transplants for your spring and summer gardens, and our 100% Organic, Naturally Leavened, Fire-Baked Bread.
2016 Market Share CSA Members: Reserve your selection online to pick up Saturday, April 23th at our farm, at Good Health Herbs, or at the Farmers Market @ St. Stephens. Everything remaining after pre-orders will be available for purchase at the Farmers Market @ St. Stephens. **We will also be at the Brandermill Green Market starting on its opening day: Saturday, May 7th. **
Pro Tip: Market Share CSA Members don’t have to wait for this Thursday email to place an order via our website. Ordering opens as early as we can on Thursday, usually between 7 and 8 am. (You can even set a calendar reminder to prompt yourself to order each Thursday.)
We will begin taking Market Share orders twice per week (thus, for pick up on Wednesdays in addition to Saturday) once the abundance of the season starts really rolling (likely in late May).
Reminder to our returning and new Farm Share CSA members: weekly shares begin the first week in May. Look for our email arriving soon full of details about the first pick-up!
