The grafted tomato plants mimic the rest of the farm. They’ve grown bigger, bursting from the silicone clip that held the two joined plants together. They are stronger, taller, and more confident.
These themes repeat themselves around the farm. Growing, bursting. This time of year space in the greenhouse is tight. It feels like trays of plants will burst out of the doors.
Field planting has begun in earnest. (Our wonderful crew is learning the motions and patterns. They may not yet be stronger and taller like the tomato plants, but confidence with repeat activities and hand tools is growing.) Spring crops are glad to be in the ground and spread their roots, so to speak.
Here’s a new theme: The soil of our new greenhouse is still getting special treatment to prepare it for plants. These will go in soon.

~ This warm weather has us returning to our favorite smoothie recipes! See below for a 6 year old’s enthusiasm for one of our staples: Combine frozen banana, frozen blackberries, milk, and microgreens in a blender. (We don’t measure, but we use approximately equal amounts by volume.) Delicious!
