Last week we felt like spring was approaching.
Now we feel like spring is here, firmly settled, and making herself right at home.
This really isn’t true, of course. The spring equinox is not even here yet. (And the forecast has us seeing a chance of snow on Sunday.) There are still plenty of mornings that will likely bring a frost. But…
Ready or not, it’s warm, relatively dry, and there is work to be done to grow food.
Update: Our new greenhouse was graced with its plastic yesterday! Many cheers here! More project updates to come, we promise.
Our orchard is breathtaking. (We don’t grow fruit for commercial sale, but we enjoy sharing its progress with you gentle readers.)
The over wintered spinach is simply stunning, if we can be so immodest, and the next round of spinach has now been planted.
We also have a number of new faces here, and we look forward to introducing them to you all over the next couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, we are preparing for this year’s colonies of bees to join us. Frames have been worked on throughout the winter. (See below, as grandchildren helped out Papa beekeeper.) Want to learn more about bees and beekeeping? Plan to join us on April 30th for our Spring Farm Day (and Plant Sale!). Details below.
