Happy 2017!

We’re enjoying reflection and waxing poetic around here this season of the new year. We moved here 10 years ago, thinking that the greater Richmond area, and western Chesterfield specifically, needed a farm like we envisioned we could create. It took us a couple of years to purchase land (and have a child in the process), and a couple of more years to clear trees and grow cover crops (plus have child #2), and then this farm was born. Now, six years later: tens of thousands of plants, many tons of compost, two more children born into our family, a dozen apprentices and/or employees, many hundreds of happy customers…and the most blessed 100 CSA members.

We knew from the beginning that we wanted to create a truly Community Supported farm. What we didn’t anticipate was how much you community members would shower us with love and really make this farm what it is. We’re blown away each week by how our community supports us, and we don’t mean financially. Yes, the financial support is vital, or otherwise our business would come to a quick end. But the emotion and energy that you contribute is what stops us in our tracks on a regular basis. Thank you!

Each year we have expanded our production, bit by bit, so that we can serve you with more vegetables that we grow and bread that we bake. We are delighted that you value our attention to taste, nutrition, organic soil health, farmer health, consumer health, all organic ingredients in our bread, and natural leavening/fermentation for bread (and pizza dough!). This makes our hearts swell.

As our capacity has grown, we have been able to offer more shares of our harvest from this Community Supported farm.
Accordingly:

Sign up for 2017 Farm Shares is now open, via our website, for everyone: returning members, those on the waiting list, and anyone else.

We look forward to growing vegetables for you in 2017!

This week’s harvest includes:
Arugula, Carrots, Chervil, Kale, Microgreens, Parsley, Salad Mix, Spinach, Turnips…and our Organic Hearth Baked Bread (Whole Wheat, Sunny Greens, Seed, & Raisin loaves for this weekend). Also available: Pepper Jelly & Tomato Chutney.

2017 Market Share CSA Members: Reserve your selection online to pick up Saturday, January 7th at our farm, at Good Health Herbs, or at the Farmers Market @ St. Stephens.
{If weather makes driving unsafe, we’ll be staying home Saturday and keep orders here.}

Anything remaining as of Saturday morning, plus the bread we will bake, we’ll bring to the Farmer’s Market @ St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in the West End of Richmond
{Indoors through March, Saturdays, 9-12.}

{You can also purchase our goods through Richmond’s online farmers’ market (www.FallLineFarms.com – use code “Holiday2016” to waive the subscription fee)  }

Enjoy ~
Janet, Dan, & the whole Broadfork crew
