Photos and harvest list for today! The heat will be here soon and we need to get your vegetables (and a few flowers!) harvested before it’s too hot…

This week’s standout is a misunderstood lettuce that dates back to the 1700’s! Brought to present-day Pennsylvania by the Amish, this is the best tasting lettuce that we have ever eaten. The speckles are its coloring! Don’t mistake them for leaves turning bad. Scoop up some at our FarmStand (at our farm) or at our booth at St. Stephens.

Summer Squash and Cucumbers are in their glory this week, and Sunflowers have made a surprise early appearance.

Root vegetables are still holding strong, and we have Beets (red and golden), Carrots, Turnips, and Radishes for you.

We might change our farm name to Allium Lovers Farm because our love of this plant family runs deep. Check out what Green Garlic looks like on the inside —

We won’t pull our actual garlic bulbs for a little bit yet, but you can get the benefit of garlic by enjoying this immature stage — no skins have formed yet, so no peeling!

Our herb patch is looking (and tasting) very nice. Combine with garlic and vegetables!

And on the horizon…

Note the watch in the photo for date and time from this morning. 🙂 We’ll start harvesting these next week.

And because we are in the sweet spot between Spring and Summer, we have Tomatoes on the horizon and also Broccoli coming out of the field today.

Our harvest includes:
Arugula, Beets (red and gold), Broccoli, Carrots, Rainbow Chard, Cilantro, Cucumbers, Dill, Green Garlic, Garlic Scapes, Head Lettuces (speckled heirloom as well as Romaine), Hearty Greens Mix, Curly Kale, Microgreens, Mint, Radishes, Salad Mix, Scallions, Spinach (last week for this!), Summer Squash, Sugar Snap Pea Shoots (last week for these!), Zucchini, Turnips…plus the very last Tomato Plants for your garden, and our Breads that we bake Saturday morning…this week’s varieties are Seed Loaf, Sunny Greens Loaf, Raisin & Cinnamon, Whole Rye, and Baguettes.

We have all these veggie beauties in our FarmStand at our farm, which is now staffed on Saturday mornings from 9-12, and open and self-serve from 9a-8p daily. Plus, we’ll bring these items on Saturday to the Farmer’s Market @ St. Stephen’s – which is outside in the parking lot from 8-12.
Keep an eye on what we have available via Richmond’s only online farmers’ market: FallLineFarms.com.

We’ll see you at the farm and at St. Stephen’s this weekend~

Enjoy ~

Janet, Dan, & the whole Broadfork crew
