It’s getting seriously cold (for central Virginia)! We are very grateful for covered vegetables so that our community can still eat very well.
Our final Farm Shares of our main season get picked up this Saturday. THANK YOU to our amazing Farm Share members who make our farm possible.
Our main season Farm Share starts up again in May 2019. Sign up for a share here! We are excited to be able to give you the opportunity to choose what you get more of and less of in your share thanks to the Farm Share software oddly called Harvie.
Psssst…The earlier you sign up and enter your vegetable preferences, the better we are able to adjust our 2019 crop plan to the preferences of our Farm Share members!
{Our Winter Farm Share is sold out! Thank you to those of you that signed up for that. If you want to be added to the waiting list, email us. We may open up more spots in February.}
**For those of you who signed up for a 2019 Farm Share before Nov 18, we’ll have an extra share for you next week! We will email you separately about that.
Wednesday’s Farm Share will likely include:
Salad Mix
Napa Cabbage
Carrots
Turnips
Radishes
Lettuce
Vegetable Notes & Recipe Suggestions…also cataloged on our Recipe Page and see our Pinterest Page
Turnips – Make Honey Glazed Turnips and serve with protein and salad of your choice.
Napa Cabbage and Carrots – We love this Napa Cabbage Salad and this Asian Slaw recipe and serve it with noodles and protein. (This time of year, we leave out the summer squash and cucumber it calls for, we use raw garlic instead of garlic powder, and we use our frozen ginger in place of ground ginger.)
Radishes – We got the excellent reminder this weekend that Radishes are excellent on burgers (vegetarian or meat burger). This spice is an excellent complement to the protein and accompanying vegetables.
Salad Mix – We’ve been experimenting with making salad dressing that includes hard-boiled egg yolks. See this recipe calling it Salad with Deviled Egg Vinaigrette.
Our harvest for the weekend markets will include:
Carrots, Chinese (Napa) Cabbage, Dill, Kale, Kohlrabi, Parsley, Radishes, Salad Mix, Green Tomatoes…and our Organic Hearth Baked Bread (Baguettes, Herb, Whole Rye, Raisin, & Seed loaves for this weekend).
{Our farmstand is open with most of the above items…see here for updated inventory}
Everything remaining after CSA shares are filled and our farm stand is shopped (plus the bread we bake Saturday morning)… we’ll bring on Saturday to the Farmer’s Market @ St. Stephen’s. Keep an eye on what we have available via the online farmers’ markets: FallLineFarms.com.
